About MeMy name is Amy Tomshack, I am a high school senior, and an Ambassador Girl Scout in the Northglenn/Thornton area of Colorado with Troop 1887. I am currently in my eleventh year of being a Girl Scout. Ambassador Girl Scouts are the oldest girls in the different levels of Girl Scouting. One of the incredible things that Ambassadors are able to do is work on and complete the Gold Award (more details below). This award is the highest award that Girl Scouts can earn. As you will very quickly see, one of my biggest passions is biomedical science. This passion is what lead me to work on my project of bringing emergency preparedness to my school, and hopefully my project will inspire you to bring my project to your school!

The Girl Scout Gold AwardAs mentioned previously, the Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout can earn. Earning such an award is a tremendous honor and achievement for young women. With this award being such a big award, there must be a important project that Senior or Ambassador Girl Scouts work on to earn the Gold Award. A Girl Scout for this project can choose any topic or problem she wishes, and importantly, is passionate about in her community. She then can take this problem or topic and create an innovative and creative solution that has the ability too be sustained after she is no longer leading the project upon completion.
